Elaphants

Elephants. Strong.Mighty. Big. These amazing animals swing their 200 lb trunks around and their predators. Scary to think about. Also in Asia, they used these giant creatures to fight wars. They rode them into battle like a horse, except much bigger.

The Anteater

An anteaters tongue is 2 feet long! It is coated in sticky goo, so the ants will get stuck on the tongue!
Also, a anteater's tongue can be flicked in and out of it's mouth 150 times a minute!
They also have excellent smell, so once it locates a dining area, it uses it's sharp claws to rip open and ant/termite hill.

Beaver

Beavers eat green things, especially water lilies, but in the winter, there are few so beavers like to eat bark.

Here is a trick question: Do beavers live in a dam?
Answer: no!
File:BeaverDam 8409.jpgBeavers live in lodges, not dams! Dams are used to level the water so the water won;t crush the side of the lodge.

Koalas

Koalas hardly ever move, no mater how cute they look. Why? They need to conserve their energy! Koalas eat a something called eucalyptus. These leaves are poisonous to most animals, but no to the Koala. Digesting them is a whole different ball game! Koalas don't get much energy from them, so after eating a little, Koalas curl up and go to sleep.

Tigers

Tigers hunt alone, being the only animal able to single-handedly take down  an Asian elephant. There are only about seven thousand actual tigers. India is home to 80% of those tigers (all of them Bengal tigers). Movies have been made on tigers, like two brothers or more recently, The Life of Pi.

On top of the food chain

The lion is the only animal that another animal does not considers prey. Male lions are easy to recognize, with their thick manes. Oddly, lions stick together forming pride (a pack). Females hunt for the pride. Males are kicked out at a young age., where they survive by fighting other males to become the male of the pride, of by becoming a loner.

A cat's whiskers

How does a cat see in the dark? When I asked my sister this question, she thought they used their eyes. Right? Wrong! Cats use their whiskers. Have you ever felt, when a car drives by, a shift in the wind? Well, that's how a cat gets around at night... using his precise whiskers! NEVER EVER TRIM A CAT'S WHISKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hero Monkey

Kasey is a Capuchin monkey. She went to monkey college. There she learned how to get objects, like water bottles, fruit, TV remotes etc.  After she completed her training, she went to the home of Ned., a person who was in a car accident and can't move anything. When Ned said water, Kasey got him a water bottle, just like sh learned, and took off the lid and put a straw in the bottle, then put the straw to Ned's lips. She studied him closely noting how far he could reach and so on.

Dinner

Bear's eat fish, berries and other things. Some bears steal it from humans. Some people even feed them. NEVER feed them. Bears will eat you out of house and home, then, when the food runs out, attack you.

Fuzzy Wuzzy

Have you heard this rhythm? "Fuzzy Wuzzy was a bear, Fuzzy Wuzzy had no hair. Fuzzy Wuzzy wasn't very fuzzy was he?"

If Fuzzy Wuzzy was a bear, he would have to be a bear cub. Why? Bear cubs have no hair, and Fuzzy Wuzzy doesn't either!

DNA

Genes and DNA are two things that help you store information. DNA  is a wonderful molecule the is in every creature. It stores information that helps the creature to be the kind of creature it is supposed to be. Dogs have thousands of genes. Each creature is given two copies of genes, one from the mother and the other from the father. Most of the time it is either dominant or recessive. If it dominant it will win and the information will be used. If it recessive gene in the dog, it will not be used when the dominant gene is present. It is "masked". It is there; it just doesn't do anything for the animal!

Prey and Pretators

Later on you will learn about animals. Then you may learn that the are just prey of a bigger animal, like a rabbit is to a tiger. This may make you sad, but remember that it is nature intended. Animals must eat other animals in order to survive. When Jesus comes, we shall be free from evil and live where the tiger is friends with the lamb, the shark likes the fish. But until then, animals must stick to the number one survivor rule: kill or be killed.

Introduction

Today I am learning about Land animals. Dome animals help us with labor like horses, oxen, donkeys mammals and other animals. Some are meant for food like chickens, pigs and cows. And finally, some are meant to roam free like bears, dear, lions and apes. These creatures are all special, each created differently by their Maker... God!
